Leslie Franklin is an award winning Manitoba artist working mainly in alcohol ink and mixed mediums. Her style combines elements of realism with free flowing, non-traditional vibrant colour producing expressive, unconventional results.
Her keen interest in wildlife and preservation of their habitat is evident as the focus in her work. It also led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology. Her science background also tempts her to experiment with interactions and combinations of mixed medium. She exploits the reactions of different density pigments as they compete for dominance on a substrate.
While working for the Department of National Defence, she augmenting her thirst for artistic knowledge by travelling to study in person under renowned artists Alvaro Castagnet, Jean Haines, John Lovett Ken Hosmer and Janet Rogers. She studied portraiture at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and has a certificate in Composite Drawing for Law Enforcement through Stuart Parkes Forensic Associates.
Leslie is represented by galleries across Canada and has been featured in group and solo exhibitions. She is an elected Associate member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
